5 Signs You’re Much Smarter than Average

Travis Bradberry, author of Emotional Intelligence, put together a list of 5 traits that may point to higher intelligence based on his research.  Some are very surprising!  Below is a summarized list of his discoveries.  View his full article, where he sites very interesting studies, HERE.

  1. You’re Anxious.

Anxiety…. How can this be good? As it turns out, people with high levels of anxiety tend to be more focused on any given task.  People with anxiety disorders are found to have a higher IQ.  Next time you feel your anxiety kicking in, be comforted in knowing that your brain power is strong!

Did you know? ITA helps children channel their anxiety through productive and fun activities.  Theatre is a great outlet and training ground for children to find their talents and learn to accomplish anything they work hard for!

  1. You were an Early Reader.

We are not surprised by #2!  At the ITA, we encourage parents to begin teaching their children to read as early as 18 months old.  Don’t think of it as only smart children learn to read at an early age; but rather, children are smart BECAUSE they learned to read at an early age!

Did you know? ITA offers reading, writing & speech classes starting as young as three years old. Want to get started earlier?  ITA offers private reading lessons that you and your child can participate in!

  1. You’re Left-Handed.

It can sometimes be a challenge teaching a left-handed child to write.  So many training tools for young children are hard to find that are not exclusively designed for right-handed children.  The silver lining is that there is a correlation between being left-handed and having a higher IQ!

Did you know? ITA uses various unconventional materials that suit right-handed AND left-handed students.  Our teachers show parents how they can use these materials to practice at home.

  1. You took Music Lessons as a Kid.

Here is another item on the list that ITA is very familiar with!  There is countless research that link high IQ’s with music training.  We use music across our curriculum and watch our students benefit from it by developing their rhythm, coordination, listening, and verbal skills!

Did you know? ITA teaches group lessons for students as young as 1 years-old in our Mommy & Me classes and Little Mozarts that prepares them for private instrument or voice lessons & fosters their love of all things musical. Ready for private lessons? We have that too!

  1. You’re Funny.

Does your child constantly make you laugh?  Congrats, you may have one smart cookie on your hands!

Did you know? ITA writes custom scripts for our students, and comedy is used all the time.  Our students love a laugh when performing!
