Providing the Foundation on Your Child’s Future Success

Written By: Lena Lucas, At Carmel Magazine

Imagine seeing your 3-year old reading music before reading books, your 4-year old setting a dinner table and eating with knife and fork, or your 5-year old acting, singing, and dancing on stage in the Christmas or spring show?  How about your 8-12 year old developing his own character, writing his own play and then performing it for you with a group of friends utilizing all of his/her skills and talents?

Research studies find that the first three years of life are critical to the emotional and intellectual development: a newborn’s brain is only 25% of an adult size. It grows to 80% by age three and 90% by age five. That’s why children learn more facts during the first three years of life, than during the remainder of their lives.  Therefore, the earlier you start teaching your children, the greater opportunities they would have to develop in versatile well rounded individuals, who will succeed in any endeavor they choose to pursue in life.

International Talent Academy (ITA), a non-profit organization in Carmel allows parents to do just that. They provide early childhood education in performing arts. ITA offers unique classes in language enrichment, individual piano and voice lessons, show choir, acting, music, logic games, etiquette, ballroom dance, public speaking, and more.

“Our curriculum for the preschool students includes brain development component with the focus on memory, attention, creative thinking, and coordination. When students finish a 6-16-week course, they leave with a great ‘baggage’ of skills and knowledge on a subject, and parents have materials and suggestions on how to develop it further at home.

Our older students get truly unique experiences in the ITA’s talent development programs in Mus. Theater, Show Choir, Ballroom dance, and more. We provide important opportunities for children who have always wanted to be in the production, but have never made auditions. It’s not only about theater, it’s about making new friends, feeling accepted for who you are, getting creative during the lessons, and growing confidence much needed in their everyday lives.”, says Tatyana Komarova – the founder and the Executive Director of the International Talent Academy.

ITA programs take place at the Monon Community Center, Brookshire Golf club, and Primrose Schools. This Spring ITA plans to open new classes at the Stratford community at West Clay. Classes last from 45-60 min, 6-16 weeks and the average price for the 6 – 8 week class ranges from $65 – $100.  Over 350 students go through the ITA programs annually. “We are offering all these classes in one location so parents don’t have to run from place to place taking their children to music, theater, or dance classes all over town. “Our Academy encourages families to spend more time learning together,” Komarova said.

“International Talent Academy is one of the few Performing Arts Schools that allow children to begin piano lessons at the age of three. Our twins, Luke and Sophia, have been taking piano lessons for two years at the ITA. They are currently able to read, play, and memorize music at the age of five! Ms. Tatyana Komarova, and her staff are committed to programs that enhance early brain development in children. It has been amazing to see the impact ITA has had on our children! They truly are loving, supportive, and dedicated staff who clearly loves teaching children.”  Mrs. Sherry Kassing, mother of 5 year old twins, 2014

Parents and kids are welcome to attend any class of their choice to observe the lessons free of charge. Please call 317-815-9381 for the details. Also, check the ITA’s web site www.InternationalTalentAcademy.org for exciting events, summer camps and programs for children 3-12!
